Combined soccer/football pitch at La Grâce de Dieu in Caen, with a dedicated baseball section. In addition to manufacturing the 11-a-side goals, folding in goals and team shelters, Metalu Plast was also asked to supply the ball-stops enclosure and handrails with dB-Lock system, with concrete base plate. We’re already talking about a beautiful, complete pitch.

But the most impressive part of this order is the backstop. The Backstop is a baseball-specific enclosure, located behind a batter to protect the audience in the event of a miss. In this case, the Backstop is a bipod fence with shutters, 12.5 m high and 40 m long. This is a highly technical “high-rise” fence, and the calculation note used to dimension the structure gave us an exceptional result, with sections of Ø 114/114 mm.

The 2023 African Cup of Nations is already looking good. The 6 stadiums that will host the 52 matches of the CAN are already more than 90% finalised, and the first 2 stadiums are already receiving their Metalu Plast VIP team shelters.

Metalu Plast was solicited to equip the 6 magnificent stadiums of the Ivory Coast: Abidjan, Ebimpé, Yamoussoukro, San-Pedro, Korhogo and
Bouaké. The composition of the team shelters is the same for the 6 stadiums: 2 shelters with 23 places, and 3 shelters with 4 places. All the team shelters are fixed on our new mobile stands, assembled using a very rigid mortise and tenon system.

This is once again an exceptional display by our African partners, and an additional proof of the quality of the Metalu Plast catalogue.

To reach such a height, the R&D has developed a new system of riser system, with a double plate to be bolted. This new setting will be reused in the future because it offers great resistance to bending, and provides more security than the classic sleeve system. The Eurocode compliant structure have very impressive dimensions: poles section, 4 spacer bars, shutters…

The installation of this huge golf ball stop was well carried out by our customer. Congratulations to the whole team for the realization of this magnificent project, which now stands on the heights of the Saint-Étienne golf course. Another great reference for Metalu Plast.
